Celebration Weekend a Huge Success
Friday afternoon Waskesiu was hit with a huge rain storm. Leaving the organizers of the 75th Anniversary to wonder, "What is the the weekend weather going to bring"? Well the clouds cleared later in the afternoon and didn't return until the weekend was wrapped up. The tents were set up. The decorating was done. Marg Ravis, Chairperson of the 75th Anniversary, opened the weekend at the "Meet and Greet" on Friday evening. Over 200 guests came for the get together. Memorabilia, news clippings and lots of reminiscing with old friends. Saturday was another weather-perfect day. The 1:00 pm shotgun had over 150 players fill the course. Pace-of-play was real good. Enabling players to finish their round and get ready for the Gala dinner. 272 meals were served at the Gala dinner. What a fantastic evening. The meal was excellent and was served in a timely fashion. Past and Current Champions were introduced and presented with a gift from the organizing committee. The draw for the 2 West-Jet tickets along with the Silent auction raised just under $7000 for scholarships directed towards Junior Lobstick. Details on how participants can apply and the application guidelines will be released at a later date. AGAIN! A BIG THANKS to all the volunteers and staff who made the weekend a success it turned out to be. AND to all who came and were apart of the weekend. You and your passion for the golf course and the Lobsticks are what make this a very special place.
