The Celebration weekend was a huge success. Chairperson, Marg Ravis put together an excellent committee that worked very hard in making the weekend the success that it was. A BIG "Thankyou" to all the volunteers and golf course staff who went the extra mile. Of course the weather was key, in that it was perfect through out the weekend. Over 200 guests showed up at the "Meet and Greet" on Friday. Over 150 golfers filled the course at the 1:00 pm shotgun. And we had 272 guests for the Gala dinner on Saturday night. 30 of which were Past and Current Champions.
A big part of the weekend also was to raise money to give scholarships out to four Junior Lobstick players. details will be released soon to see how players can apply. Close to $7000.00 was raised through the raffle for the West-Jet tickets along with the Silent auction items.
Along with Ian Gray - Chairman of the Board of Directors
The Waskesiu Golf Course is very pleased to announce that they have established the “Waskesiu Golf Course Scholarship for Junior Golf”. The initial seed money for this scholarship has come from the 75th Anniversary celebrations raffle and silent auction supported by businesses in Waskesiu, Prince Albert and Saskatoon. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize and promote academics and community involvement among participants of the Jr. Lobsticks. Funding for the scholarship comes from annual donations, one time donations and various raffles, draws and tournaments.
The scholarship will be open to entering or continuing students pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies in any program at any post secondary institution and who are registered to play in the forthcoming Jr. Lobstick tournament at Waskesiu Golf Course.
"We are very excited about not only promoting Junior golf, but also giving young people a helping hand to further their education" comments Waskesiu General Manager Peter Anholt.
The scholarship will consist of up to four awards annually with a value of $500. It is anticipated that the first award (s) will be made in the 2010-2011 academic year. Selection will be based on registration paid in full for the forthcoming Lobstick, academics, and commitment to volunteerism in your local community.
For additional information on the scholarships, upcoming Jr. Lobsticks and or contributing to the scholarship program please make contact with General Manager Peter Anholt at 306.663.5300 or via email at generalmanager@waskesiugolfcourse.com.
